🚀 The Challenge

Empire Sport & Spine approached Color Culture Design seeking a refreshed identity that reflected their dual expertise in physical therapy and chiropractic care. We wanted to bring energy, consistency, and a sense of precision. These are qualities central to their approach to movement, rehabilitation, and performance.

The challenge was to create a brand system that embodied motion, strength, and technical excellence, while maintaining the trust and professionalism expected within healthcare. The result needed to appeal equally to athletes, active individuals, and everyday patients seeking recovery.

  • Create a cohesive color and typography system for use across clinics, apparel, and digital platforms

  • Design a brand mark that could be scaled and recognized across multiple regional locations

🛠️ Our Approach

The creative direction centered around the concept of “movement with mastery.” The name Empire speaks to scale and presence, while Sport & Spine defines focus and expertise. The design needed to unify these themes — bold enough for a performance brand, refined enough for medical credibility.

We developed a custom typographic mark inspired by collegiate athletic forms, with structural symmetry that evokes alignment and stability. Each letter was refined to feel both strong and dynamic, with clean geometric edges symbolizing precision and control.

To complement the typography, we designed a human motion icon representing a stylized athlete in mid-throw — a metaphor for restoration, power, and fluid biomechanics. This visual served as both a brand symbol and shorthand mark for digital and merchandise applications.

The color palette combined grounded and energizing tones: deep graphite for strength, forest green and teal for vitality and renewal, gold for optimism and excellence, and neutral silver-gray for balance. Together, these hues created a confident and approachable identity system with flexibility across materials and settings.

💡 The Solution

The final Empire Sport & Spine identity delivers a visual expression of balance between athletic intensity and medical precision.

The wordmark anchors the brand with bold typography that communicates trust and expertise, while subtle angles within the letterforms suggest forward momentum.

The athlete silhouette above the logotype provides instant recognition and an emotional connection to the idea of human motion which is the essence of Empire’s philosophy. When applied to signage, apparel, and digital media, the mark feels powerful yet minimal, confident yet composed.

This system creates a cohesive experience across physical spaces, ensuring patients encounter a brand that feels modern, competent, and motivating from the first impression to the last session.
