🚀 The Challenge

During the height of the COVID-19 lockdown, when distance separated even the closest of friends, I wanted to find a way to stay connected while exploring the creative and technical side of a new medium: podcasting.
The goal was simple — build something meaningful, social, and learn the operational underpinnings of a podcast brand. That idea evolved into Pops Pint, a short-form podcast about fatherhood, designed to last only as long as a single beer.

🎯 Objectives

  • Create a lighthearted, high-quality podcast brand that celebrates fatherhood and friendship

  • Learn the full production stack — recording, editing, distribution, and monetization

  • Design a visual identity that feels playful yet premium in digital storefronts

  • Keep each episode intimate and time-bound: one pint, one story

🛠️ Our Approach

The creative direction began with the concept of time and connection — using a pint of beer as both a timer and a metaphor for presence. I developed the name Pops Pint to merge two ideas: dad life (“Pops”) and shared ritual (“a pint”).
From there, I focused on building the full brand ecosystem — artwork, color palette, and publishing identity — that could stand out across Apple Podcasts, Spotify, and mobile storefronts. The visual tone was inspired by the warm, hazy hues of a New England IPA — gradients of amber, citrus, and foam-white — paired with approachable typography and subtle texture.

💡 The Solution

The final identity captures the relaxed, conversational feel of the podcast. A sun-lit, hazy yellow-orange palette reflects the warmth of late-day conversations, while the logo and wordmark lean on rounded forms that mirror a pint glass silhouette. Every detail — from the can-label-style cover art to the foamy texture overlay — was crafted to feel friendly, familiar, and handcrafted. The design holds its distinctiveness even at small scale, ensuring it pops within podcast directories and mobile screens.

A pint’s worth of perspective on fatherhood, designed to be short, sincere, and best enjoyed with friends. Pops Pint became more than a podcast. It was a creative study in connection, design, and learning by doing.
