We were doing some research for a perspective Storybook Application/eReader. Unfortunately the initiative fell through but we found some great shops out there doing some clever things with device experience and bringing reader/ particularly young readers in to the story. This is a French based company called Poesies Industrielles . Great video gents!
Very cool video about the future of phone / screen devices. The video walks through interactions with Paper Phone. It's a bit slow and clunky, but you also have to remember where we came from 7 or so years ago. The screen looks awfully simliar to the orginal iPod. And apple's original "click wheel" wasn't all that inuitive until you played around with it for a couple of hours/days.
Regardless, these peeps are pushing us to the next boundaries of interface.
Checking up on Google news is a must each and every day. Digital Tchotchke runs everything through Google. It helps us stay efficient and operating at low costs. Google helps the small guys and gals, as long as you want to be helped. Yes, they have our info, but we also aren't doing nuclear physics here. We are about great design and effective ideas.
Some news in Google today are improvements made to Google docs, which Digital T runs daily. The cloud is good and offers limitless real estate. Collaboration/communication is key when you are small and nimble. We pride ourselves in always being in contact with you, the customer. Point is, Google improvements are Digital Tchotchke improvements.
I was fortunate to have the pleasure of working with Patrick Smith two odd years ago. He is a flash designer/coder who makes simplicity look beautiful. The smooth motion and odd humor of his work makes Digital Tchotchke full of envy and smiles. You can check out a lot of his work at Vector Park. He recently launched windosill. The project is always a mystery when you first enter his site. No directions are prompted when you first enter and curiosity will make you start exploring. A click here and a click there makes the site come alive. Go and explore a little windosill. You may find yourself spending more time on it than you expected.
After a long weekend of boarding in Aspen, a first attempt to capture some video with the new office Flip, and the desire to cut a great highlight video, we are back and better than ever. A little R&R in the Rockies with tons of video footage and snapshots got us looking online for some inspiration. Design greatness can be achieved with a huge desire to make something beautiful and the kick in the ass to make it happen. Sure a 50k budget helps, but Flip mino's aren't too bad either. Check out a beautiful time lapse done by Charles. He is new to video like us, but gosh, he is really setting the bar high.
The crew at Digital Tchotchke is looking forward to shredding in Aspen soon! But before we head off, we thought it was best to explore the design community in snowboarding. Snowboard design has formed an underground, graphic design following similar to skateboard decks. We set off at the beginning of the day to find some killer designs/designers to showcase. Much to our enjoyment we found a design contest instead! forsnowboarding.com is running it. The contest site is here. RUN, SCRABMLE, AND FLY to the rules and regs (ends Sunday). We have already started. Below are some submissions that others have done to give your hamster wheels some inertia :) We will be sure to post what we come up with!
Chad Ochocinco has launched a new network on his twitter page. There are so many reasons why I don't like this and then there are a couple of why I do. Let's rattle some quick "dislikes" that are clearly evident:
1. You are a not a "news" network. You are a sports a blog with celebrity access.
2. Tweets are not stories/articles, 140 or so character limits per tweet, child please
3. I've been looking for a web page, where it be?
But here are some strong "likes":
1. The guy has marketed himself incredibly, the NFL TD fines are clearly paying off in the long run
2. He isn't in the superbowl and he is constantly being talked about
3. He is staffing up, I believe Ray Rice and a couple of other players have been parading around the Superbowl grounds doing interviews
4. He made something out of nothing and getting paid for it, hello sponsors
Appoint a CEO, hire Digital Tchotchke to do your web/marketing, and let's get this puppy rolling.
